As the hot summer sun rose up over the Treasure Valley this past weekend, thousands flocked to the fairgrounds to enjoy the Boise Music Fest. Delta Dental of Idaho sponsored a stage inside the expo building where music-goers could escape from the heat and experience some local artists.
“Despite record-setting temperatures over the weekend, the turnout was really great this year with over 25,000 people in attendance,” says Amanda White with Boise Townsquare Media, the organization that orchestrates this annual event. A cluster of local radio stations have been generating buzz across the airwaves for months with lineup announcements and ticket giveaways. Stations include 105.9 Mix 106, 107.9 Lite FM, 103.3 KISS FM, WOW Country 104.3, and KIDO 580 News Talk, and 30 AM The Fan Sports Radio.
Music fan and Delta Dental employee, Kyle Bigelow, describes the acts as getting bigger and better every year. He also says, “June is good timing too because nobody has left town for the major summer holidays yet.” Event organizers had changed the date to June in an effort to avoid the heat, but this year, there was no escaping it. Instead, they were prepared. As temps soared past 100 degrees, an entire semi-truck full of ice was unloaded during the concert. Ice was given to fans to keep them cool as well as food vendors to keep their inventory safe. Performers even jumped on the bandwagon by spraying down the energetic crowd with fire hoses during their sets.
Boise Music Fest also featured a local celebrity. Joshua Albers from Kuna, a recent contestant from “The Bachelorette” made an appearance and was happy to do a meet n’ greet and take photos with fans of the show.
Between the carnival rides, the assortment of food vendors, popular headlining bands, and local celebs, this year’s Boise Music Fest was jam-packed with entertainment and fun and Delta Dental was proud to be a part of it. Here’s to #BMF2016!
